Defeatism & The Suffering Kingdom
Matthew 11:12, NASB
“From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.”
Defeatism can be defined as accepting defeat without struggle. We need to wrestle with the things of life to win back ground which was severely brutalised by the violence of the devil. Our work is not complete if we do not know there is a war waging on every side. Hence we’re speaking to the area of “defeatism” today.
It is the thing that gives up in us after a few rounds in the ring. No one has promised you a clean fight. The devil will throw everything he can at you to pull down your moral fibres of character and hope. It’s in these times James 1:12 reminds us to “rejoice under trial” as it will produce a crown of life. We’re to become those masters of the battlefield, waging a spiritual battle on every front to advance the kingdom. Our warfare is not against people, but we know the kingdom of darkness also has stations and outposts strategically trying to torment and hold people captive.
Conclusion: Let’s not take an attitude of ‘the defeatest’ into the rest of our life. Our trial will produce a great reward, and we want that crown of life!
