To Those In Full Time Ministry!

by QuickStudyProphetic

Acts 6:2-6 ESV

“And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.”

You Have Been Called To Preach!

I am writing because I want to tell you of your first priorities and that no one take them away from you.

Ministries can grow into fairly complex environments and it is important to remain focused on the prize. God has called you to preach and teach his word. You are not going to preach the correct sermon or teach the correct series if you’ve become so consumed with the running’s and household of a place.

Does this mean you are not to get involved?

No, but be careful that it dies not distract your walk with the Lord. The spiritual care of the house is far more important that it’s new paint or new location or physicality. You decisions will become disconnected from the Lord and you will be so busy you will loose the joy of your salvation. The Lord may have other plans, but if you are so busy you will not see them and know them; and ultimately in the end you will not have ‘known the Lord‘ (Matt7.23) and this is not a good place to be!

Go preach and have that peace it is your Job.

Don’t feel embarrassed explain to your staff, that this is your job and do only that. You will need to answer to God in the end, therefore do not be swayed by every doctrine and every activity. Seek the Lord while he may be found, call on him while he is near (Is55.6). Go and preach and lead the people in the ways of the Lord.

Hallelujah Amen.
